Not ANOTHER weight loss program. Aren’t there a bajillion out there already??
I never planned to write a weight loss program.
Nope. Never.
I just figured there are so many already out there. The world doesn’t need another weight loss program on the market.
So…uh...why did I make one?
Well it only takes about 10 seconds of scrolling through Pinterest to see exactly why.
“Lose 10 lbs in a week!”
“Slim arms in just 10 minutes”
“Skinny legs workout!”
This text is from actual pins I’ve seen on Pinterest. And they’re all extremely unreasonable.
Let’s take a brief, closer look at why:
“Lose 10 lbs in a week!”
If it works, that’s mostly water weight.
It takes a deficit of about 3,500 calories to lose one pound. Since 3,500 calories is well over what many of us should eat in a day, it’s easy to see that the math just doesn’t add up.
The article on the other side of this pin probably has you starving yourself or doing something else that just isn’t sustainable and certainly isn't healthy. In the end, it won’t stick and you’ll be frustrated and sad.
“Slim arms in just 10 minutes”
This was for a 10 minute arm workout. While working out the arms is great, adding a 10 minute workout to your day with no other lifestyle changes will not give you the results you're looking for. And it’s just not possible to target one part of the body for fat loss.
“Skinny legs workout!”
Same thing - it's not possible to spot reduce like this. Plus since this is a workout, the exercises you’re doing will build muscle on the legs. So you might actually be making them BIGGER.
These messages communicate information and promises that aren’t real or healthy, but they’ve become the norm. It’s frustrating for those of us in healthcare (I’m both a registered nurse and a certified personal trainer) and for consumers who just want to get healthy.

Or maybe all of those at once (bless you, if that’s the case. You’re the real superhero). You’re short on time and short on patience for things that don’t stick.
It’s time to cut out the crap we’re bombarded with and get down to business.
